Research suggests that all decisions are emotionally based and that logic is used to provide a rational explanation for whatever decision is taken. As coaches we need to understand that Leaders can become victims of their own emotions and regard their moods and emotions as outside of their control. Understanding recent studies in the area of neuroscience will increase our capability as coaches to work with our clients and assist them to live in harmony with head and heart. Rather than controlling or avoiding emotions coaches can assist clients to learn from bodily reactions and begin to act sensibly on them thus developing increased self-awareness and more effective self-management. Recent findings in neuroscience related to thinking errors/biases, emotion and brain plasticity provide coaches with some new approaches when working with their clients.
In this workshop Paula King will introduce you to the neuroscience of emotion and share with you tools and techniques you can use in your coaching sessions. This will assist you to help your clients to use their emotions intelligently to solve their problems, achieve their goals and, most importantly, produce sustainable change in a relatively short time frame. She will discuss many interesting and useful findings across neuroscience, in particular the four main areas of scientific research that combine to form a central explanation of how coaching impacts the brain and, in turn, our emotions. These are the study of Attention, Reflection, Insight and Action - the Model ‘ARIA’.
Contents will include:
- The Neuroscience of Emotions
- Neurobehavioral insights
- Practical tools, techniques and approaches
